The tradition of decorating eggs was present on the Polish lands throughout the centuries (oldest egg is from 10th Century).

Pisanki – derived from pisańá = to write

‘Pisanki’ is commonly used to name all the ‘easter eggs’ in Poland nowadays.

Sharing and gifting pisanki to family and friends - symbolic wishes of health and abundance ‘written’ with symbols on the eggshells

The motifs painted on pisanki have a deep symbolic meaning, connected to rebirth, fertility, beauty, protection, and sun symbolism (vitality).
